In this edition we speak to Singapore based dance studio owner, Ai Qi Han. I had the pleasure of meeting Ai Qi at a Daughters Of Tomorrow luncheon late last year. Right of the bat, she had a vigour and liveliness that was infectious. Her personality embodied her mission of spreading happiness. She does so through her appropriately named dance studio, Happi Dance.
As we spoke, I learnt of how much of an impact she has made through the studio via the donations she regularly makes to charities in Singapore. As an entrepreneur seeking to live a purposeful existence, I found myself profoundly encouraged by her words.
My biggest takeaway was to not focus too much on the numerical value of the donations made from the outset; but instead I should work towards making an impact and donating whatever I could. This was heartening to hear because as a small business owner, fundraising can be daunting with questions like ‘what if I don’t sell enough to raise a meaningful sum’, being a regular thought.
Learning about Ai Qi’s challenges and how she has responded further inspires me as a business owner, and I am truly thankful to have met her.
