Champion of Good: A Meaningful Milestone in Our Journey

Champion of Good: A Meaningful Milestone in Our Journey

We often think of growth as moving forward.

But growth also asks us, every so often, to look back. To reflect on the choices we have made, the people who have walked alongside us, and whether the business we are building continues to reflect the values with which we began. This is one of those moments for Wolf & Byrd.

Makatolo Inc Private Limited, the company behind Wolf & Byrd, has been conferred Champion of Good 2026–2029 by the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC), under its Company of Good programme. It is a recognition we receive with immense gratitude, but also with a deep sense of responsibility.

What it means to be a Champion of Good

NVPC describes Champions of Good as exemplary organisations that influence their stakeholders to create a multiplier effect for greater impact. It is the idea of the multiplier effect that resonates particularly strongly with us.

No business creates meaningful impact on its own. It happens through relationships. Through the people we choose to work with, the communities we support, the partners who share our values, the customers who make conscious choices, and the opportunities we create for others along the way.

One action can lead to another. One collaboration can open a door. One decision to do things differently can influence decisions beyond our own organisation. Over time, those individual choices begin to add up.

Purpose has always been part of the business

At Wolf & Byrd, we have always believed that beauty and purpose need not exist separately. We are, first and foremost, a design business. We care deeply about what we create, the stories our pieces carry and the experience they bring to the women who wear them. But we have also continued to ask ourselves what value our business can create beyond the products we sell.

That question has shaped the way we approach responsible production and longevity. It has informed our commitment to working with and supporting women, local businesses, and community organisations. It has led us to find ways of extending the life of existing garments, reducing waste, contributing to social initiatives and using our platform to create opportunities for others.

None of this work is ever complete. As the business grows, so too should our understanding of what responsible business can look like.

A year that has invited reflection

This past year has brought several meaningful milestones for Wolf & Byrd, each affirming different aspects of the business we have spent years building. Taken together, they are not a measure of arrival. They are a reminder of the responsibility that comes with building a business centred on purpose.

Recognition can be encouraging, particularly when much of the work behind it happens quietly and consistently over many years. But perhaps its greatest value is that it asks us what we will do next.

  • Where can we improve?
  • Who else can we bring into the journey?
  • How can the decisions we make today create a more meaningful ripple tomorrow?

Those are questions we intend to keep asking.

The journey continues

Being recognised as a Champion of Good strengthens our commitment to build thoughtfully, create responsibly and continue finding meaningful ways for our business to contribute to the world around us. There will always be more to learn and more to improve. We see that not as a shortcoming, but as an essential part of growth.

To our customers, collaborators, suppliers, community organisations, and everyone who has supported Wolf & Byrd over the years, thank you. The multiplier effect begins with people choosing to participate, collaborate and believe that business can be about more than what it sells.

Our sincere thanks also go to NVPC and the Company of Good for this recognition and for continuing to encourage businesses across Singapore to consider the role we can each play in building a better society. We are proud to be a Champion of Good 2026–2029.

And even more importantly, we are ready to continue the work.

One thoughtful step at a time.
